《浮光童夢》始於屏東紀實攝影師劉安明的照片。黃心健以暗房中正在沖洗的一張老照片作為故事起點,並藉由VR虛擬實境的體感方式,帶領觀眾穿梭時空,重回民國50年代的屏東五溝水地區。本作將過往客家的建築風貌與語言凝結一瞬,以元宇宙的方式重現獨特的文化記憶和在地精神。原生的自然動植物元素以及自然環境地貌,例如翠綠水草間的鬥魚、台灣澤龜,又或是與同伴攜手玩樂的大武山湧泉,在在擴展了觀者的感官疆域。隨著劇情發展,鄉土過往延伸至超現實的情境,遊樂中,周邊的事物逐漸放大,如夢似幻的場景,讓人放下現實的紛擾,超脫時空的藩籬,重回童年的純真美好。

《浮光童夢》是為了紀念六堆建堆三百年的委託製作,由客家新媒體藝術家黃心健擔任顧問,與張文杰導演合作創作。本作於2021年奧地利林茲電子藝術節(ARS ELECTRONICA FESTIVAL)的台灣展區「島嶼壯遊」展出,並獲得「東京短編映畫祭」「 優選佳作獎」與入圍紐約電影獎「最佳動畫」(Best Animation)項目。

Childhood Revisited is rooted in the photographs by Liu An-Ming, a Pingtung documentary photographer. Huang starts the story with a photograph undergoing development in a darkroom and uses the bodily sensations enabled by VR technology to guide viewers through time and space, transporting them back to the Pingtung Wugoushui area in the 50s. The work integrates the past Hakka architecture styles and language to feature unique cultural memory and local spirit through the metaverse. The natural elements of plants, animals, and landscape, such as the fighting fish swimming between the green seaweed, Taiwan freshwater turtles, or the spring of Mount Dawu in the backdrop of fun leisure time spent with friends, all expand the frontiers of the viewers’ senses. As the plot propels forward, past rural scenes proceed into scenarios that seem surreal. The surroundings continue to enlarge amid the playfulness, and the dreamlike scenery encourages viewers to release the burdens of reality, letting go of the boundaries of time and space and returning to the innocence and authenticity of childhood.

Childhood Revisited was commissioned to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Liudui, with the Hakka new media artist Huang Hsin-Chien as the consultant and created in collaboration with director Chang Wen-Chieh. The work was initially displayed in the Taiwan section “Taiwan Grand Tour” at the 2021 Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria, and was awarded honorary mention at the Tokyo International Short Film Festival and shortlisted for Best Animation at New York Film Awards.
